Singer Industrial
03  /  How you introduce yourself

Every buyer meets the same introduction. This is it.

This is not about the web page. It is just the quickest way to see what you think you are selling, so it is where I started.

The navigation

Brands. Products. About. Acquisition Criteria. Careers. News & Resources.

No branch finder. No locations. No phone number. The fourth one is for people who want to sell you their company.

The headline

“United By Shared Values.”

The paragraph under it

“…we may operate with diverse local cultures, but we are united by shared values… We are building on those values and are looking to add exceptional companies to our group.”

That last sentence tells you who the page is for. It is not somebody who needs a hose today.

The three numbers

1,450+ employees. 110+ locations. 55+ brands.

The biggest numbers on your page are about how big you are. None of them is about a customer.

Why the page looks like this

“As one of America’s leading portfolios of Industrial Rubber, Fluid Power & Automation Value-Added Distributors, we may operate with diverse local cultures, but we are united by shared values.”

The page is that sentence turned into a layout. A portfolio at the top, a pitch to sellers underneath. An investor would recognise the company in it. A customer would not find one thing they came for. Singer itself has no customers, only 43 companies that do, so the page ends up talking to somebody else.
